High torques can be transmitted with the Torx® profile. Torque forces are not applied at the corners (as is the case, for example, with the Allen key system), but centrally and over a wide area on the flanks of the individual teeth. This results in significantly less wear.
Another advantage of the Torx® profile is that, in contrast to the Phillips profile, no increased pressure is required when screwing due to the vertical drive surfaces. Significantly fewer recoil forces therefore occur. This means that cordless screwdrivers with high torques can be used for fast fastening without damaging the inner profile. The Torx system is particularly suitable for assembly robots in automatic production.
