Information about adjustable sealing cone adapters

Adjustable NPSM adapters are designed for use with NPT/NPTF hose fittings with a 30° internal chamfer. NPSM adapters do not seal across the flanks, as is common with most NPT thread adapters. Instead, the seal is created between the sealing chamfer of the adjustable NPSM adapters and the seat of the NPT/NPTF pipe thread fitting. This creates a metal-to-metal seal. Figure 1.
