General Information on Solenoid Valves
Solenoid valves are electromechanical devices for interrupting or diverting flows by opening and closing one or more orifices.
The solenoid valve is a combination of three basic components:
- An electromagnet, consisting of a coil (windings) and a magnetic metal yoke.
- An actuator with a movable magnetic armature (which in some cases directly opens and closes the valve).
- A valve body with an orifice that is opened or closed by a magnetic armature or a diaphragm to allow or prevent the flow of the medium.
