General Information About the EO2-Form Fitting

The world's most widely used high-pressure fitting system presents itself in a new dimension:
- highest pressure resistance
- absolutely pull-out proof
- Cr(VI)-free surface protection with significantly higher corrosion resistance
- noticeably reduced tightening forces
- considerable assembly advantages
The same "DOZ" sealing ring is used for EO2-FORM as for EO-2 connections. The large-volume elastomer ensures the hermetic sealing of the tube connection. It acts between the inner cone of the fitting body and the tube surface, thereby effectively blocking the only possible leak path. The special sealing profile has a particularly large cross-section to reliably seal even with unfavorable tolerances between the tube and the fitting. The sealing effect is supported by the system pressure, making EO2-FORM fittings excellently suited for high-pressure applications. The high pre-tension of the seal ensures the outstanding gas-tightness of the fitting and thus prevents air from entering under vacuum conditions.
EO2-FORM connections with permanently elastic sealing do not need to be retightened even under severe operating conditions. Typical seal damages such as gap extrusion or abrasion due to "pumping" are prevented by the optimized installation space without gaps or dead volume. The elastomeric seal is permanently bonded to the metallic support ring.
The cold forming of the tube is carried out using the EO2-FORM machine. The forming process and tool change are designed for short cycle times, making the process simple and fast. For assembly, only the EO-2 sealing ring is pushed onto the tube and the union nut is tightened. The main force transfer is taken over by the formed collar on the tube end and not the tube surface itself. In continuous operation, the robustness of the EO2-FORM connection is achieved without setting phenomena or retightening of the union nut.
System Solution
No additional items need to be purchased or stored for the existing EO-2 product range. The assembly characteristics of the EO2-FORM connection are comparable to those of the EO-2 system.
Flexible Concept
The EO-2 and EO2-FORM product family enables the use of the optimal product within a complex hydraulic system or a complete production plant. EO2-FORM can be used for high-performance applications such as presses; EO-2 is ideal for general hydraulic and pneumatic lines. This achieves maximum system performance with a minimum of component, assembly, and storage effort.
No Risk
Because the EO2-FORM technology is based on the proven EO-2 technology. All components and assembly techniques are well proven. The customer does not need to test a new system.
Form-Fitting Concept
The form-fitting concept offers superior mechanical strength and maximum anti-pull-out security. This also allows use in areas where cutting ring connections are not permitted.
High Pressure Resistance
EO2-FORM can be used for pressures up to 800 bar in the S series and 500 bar in the L series. The requirements of DIN/ISO are clearly exceeded here. Due to the increased pressure ratings, the use of the L series is even conceivable where, due to design constraints, only the S series was previously considered. This not only reduces costs and assembly forces but also has advantages in confined installation spaces due to the smaller dimensions of the L series.
High Sealing Capacity
The large-volume elastomer seal acts as the primary sealing element. Even low-viscosity media such as water or gases are hermetically sealed. Therefore, hydraulic lines do not "sweat" at the connection points.
No Pseudo Leakage
No lubrication is required for the assembly of EO-2 steel fittings. There is no irritation from lubricant emerging from the fittings when the hydraulic system heats up.
Universal
The EO2-FORM machine can prepare all conventional steel tubes for use in hydraulic line systems by cold forming (EO2-FORM can also be used for stainless steel tubes and special materials such as CuNiFe). Tools are available for metric tube sizes from 6 to 42 mm outer diameter. Even thin-walled tubes with a wall thickness of 1 mm can be used without problems.
Bending Fatigue Strength
The EO2-FORM process causes a continuous material work-hardening, which achieves a high bending fatigue strength of the connection.
Durability
In continuous operation, the robustness of the EO2-FORM connection is achieved without setting phenomena or retightening of the union nut.
Cost Saving
Compared to welding and brazing, the EO2-FORM system is enormously time-saving. Special tube preparation is not necessary. Furthermore, only a fraction of the energy required for welding or brazing is needed.
Quality
The tube clamping and the forming process are fully automatic. Manual adjustment options are not provided. This ensures a consistently high-quality and safe assembly result.
Noise Minimization
Compared to conventional tube forming, the EO2-FORM process results in a relatively smooth inner contour so that no deposits can form. At the same time, pressure drop and noise development are effectively reduced.
Repeated Assembly
EO2-FORM connections can be loosened and reassembled as often as desired. There is no wear or widening of the inner cone.
Approved
EO-2 high-pressure fittings and the EO2-FORM process are tested and approved by independent institutions – such as Germanischer Lloyd and Det Norske Veritas.
Confined Installation Spaces
The compact clamping tool also allows the forming of short tube ends with tight bending radii.
Clean
The EO2-FORM process works cleanly and safely. Since no chemicals are used and no heat is applied, dangers from pollutants or heat are excluded.
