General Information on Spring Balancers and Balancers

Balancers, spring balancers, or weight compensators are primarily used in industry for the floating suspension of work tools. The tool is attached to a cable which, with a cable drum and a spring package, is always set to wind up the cable and retract the tool. This keeps the workspace free for other tools.
Spring Balancer (Retractor)
Spring balancers are designed so that the retraction force increases with increasing cable extension. The working load is thus retracted to the original position by the spring balancer after use, and the workspace is kept free for other tools or devices. The very gently rising spring force guarantees precise work.
Weight Compensator (Balancer)
Weight compensators are characterized by a conical cable drum. This results in a retraction force that remains almost constant over the entire cable extension. The consequence is that the attached load maintains its position after use. Furthermore, there is no increase in retraction force, especially for very precise and sensitive work. This enables fatigue-free work over long periods of time through the use of a weight compensator.
Automatic Locking
The automatic locking effects a premature retraction stop at predetermined positions. It is always active when the working load is slowly returned. The automatic locking does not engage during rapid return. This results in a significant improvement in work ergonomics for some applications, for example, if the attached load should not completely return to the original position between different work steps. The automatic locking is available for various spring balancers and weight compensators.
